Engineering is at the core of quality auto parts:

The engineering department utilizes modern engineering concepts and processes with the latest technology in CAE, FEA and CFD software. Applying knowledge and material science gained from automotive industry leaders in countries like Germany, United States, France and Britain, SPA creates virtual models to conduct in-depth studies and detailed analysis of automotive components prior to manufacturing.

This work results in the design of high quality new products and ongoing modernization of existing product. Through the leadership of the Engineering Department, SPA conduct a rigorous quality control in all our products, performing testing, analysis and test reports in specialized laboratories. All of these efforts are completed to meet the needs of the high performance automotive aftermarket.

Dynamometer Testing:

We test engines with our in-house dynamometer. This indispensable equipment let us perform actual applications based testing on auto parts components such as pistons, piston pins, connecting rods and connecting rod bolts, cylinder heads,  valves, valve springs, retainers, pulleys, turbos, wastegate valves and other system related components. Beyond virtual testing, dynamometer testing is another method that allows SPA turbo to ensure that our products are performing as our engineers intended.

Flowbench Testing:

We use SuperFlow’s most advanced flowbench, the computer-controlled SF-1020-SB (SuperBench), which is designed to meet the needs of demanding engineers and professional racers. With the SF-1020-SB, we can measure and record air flow at OEM engineering accuracy. We can test intake valves, air cleaners and carburetors, or test exhaust valves, exhaust systems and two-cycle cylinders. The SF-1020-SB provides accurate digital airflow measurement and control, takes pressure and temperature measurements, handles all corrections and displays digital read-outs for corrected flow, test pressure and velocity probe.

Turbo Balancing

Turbocharger rotate at very high speeds, the range of turbos distributed by SPA Turbo obtain speeds in the 100.000 RPM to 200.000 RPM range. In addition to selecting the specified materials and manufacturing the components to the correct tolerances, the rotating group components must be balanced to exacting tolerances. Then the turbo cartridge must be perfectly balanced. These steps will improve the turbo's life expectancy and performance. All SPA turbos are tested and balanced under high speed rotation. SPA Turbo utilizes the Turbo Technics VSR MK4 balancing machine which is capable of reaching more than 200.000rpm.

The VSR MK4 is one of the most advanced balancing machines in the world – it will pin point the location of the unbalance and allow our technicians precisely adjusting the rotor of the turbo.

SPA Turbo takes these steps to provide 100% customer satisfaction.

Testing at the Race Track

Engineering a product to perform is important, but after all the analytical work, testing in real world conditions is critical. Spa Turbo have race car drivers in many different types of competition and these drivers take the products to the extreme in endurance and performance.
